#swoon2013 – FINISHED

Let me interrupt my regularly scheduled blog post to apologize if you have been to my blog lately and seen something other than what you see today. I attempted to switch web hosts and, well, let’s just say cheaper certainly was NOT better this time around! WHAT A MESS that turned out to be….but I am back up and running and I am very sorry for the temporary difficulty!

Back to our regularly scheduled post…

This has been a long time coming (by my own doing – awe, there goes a bunny wearing flashing lights) but #swoon2013 (yep, that is the only name this quilt is getting) is FINALLY done!

Back in June 2013, Sarah of Fairy Face Designs kicked off a Swoon-A-Long. We were supposed to link our finished tops in November 2013 **cough, cough** Don’t tell Sarah but I’m a little late!

Back in 2013 I started with four or five of Lori Holt‘s fabric lines – all that were out at the time and some that were only on Etsy because they were no longer in print (at least to my knowledge). Since I started this quilt she has come out with three more lines – new quilt maybe?? Nah!! Too many UFOs to complete!

I quilted this quilt with in a QAYG fashion using MariQuilts tutorials. There are 4 different quilting patterns and they are dispersed as evenly as possible throughout the quilt. Considering the size of this quilt (125″x125″) I couldn’t imagine quilting it any other way.

I simply pieced the back of each block using bits of fabric I had purchased (considering I had over-purchased for this quilt – IMAGINE!!). Here is the back:

swoon back

It took a small army to photograph this quilt. In this pic of the back you can see everyone was getting tired and didn’t care if they were in the picture or not and since they were volunteers I just kept snapping away. I love the hodge podge look the back, and the colors!!!!!

Of course I had to take the obligatory quilt roll picture:

I put together a collage of some of the details of the quilt to try to keep this post from going on forever! Oh and in the collage is an outtake photo my daughter snapped of me trying to make the bed. You see, when I started this quilt I had a much larger room and could just “toss” the quilt onto the bed. Now with a smaller room you have to do some acrobats to get to one corner – so enjoy a good giggle (I just wish you could see my new Darth Vader shirt I was wearing).

swoon detailsNow that you have seen me flop about I should close with a better picture – how about one with the quilt doing what it was created to do (and what I worked so hard to get it to do):
